Acqui Terme

Acqui Terme, a charming spa town, was already famous in Roman times for its steaming waters. This jewel is nestled among vineyards and landscapes that, in 2014, received the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage recognition, thanks to their breathtaking beauty. Here, in the territory of Alto Monferrato, you will find environmental, landscape, artistic, and eno-gastronomic inspirations. Wonders to be explored include La Bollente, a fascinating thermal spring, the majestic Cathedral of Nostra Signora Assunta, the ancient Roman aqueduct and the picturesque old town of Acqui Terme. Wander through the streets of historic sites and be enveloped by the architectural beauty of Villa Ottolenghi Wedekind and the serene atmosphere of the Acqui Terme Archaeological Museum. Don’t forget to admire the enchanting and evocative Fontana delle Ninfee (Fountain of the Water Lilies). The impressive remains of the Roman aqueduct, which stand along the course of the Bormida river, tell how water has always been the vital element of this city. Acqui Terme offers its visitors an extraordinary combination of art, culture, history, gastronomic excellence, charm and Italian hospitality that make it a unique and captivating destination. Let yourself be enchanted by Acqui Terme and its treasures.

The Brachetto Docg

There are three types of Brachetto d’Acqui, namely the red wine (also called ‘tappo raso’), the sparkling wine, and the passito; official recognition came in 1996 thanks to the Protection Consortium, the year in which this production was awarded the prestigious DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita – Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) quality mark. The DOCG has defined more precisely, also from a legal and administrative point of view, the peculiarities of this wine, distinguishing it from other wines.
